How to Get a Mobile Home From Hurricane Katrina
After Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in late August 2005, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) began making RV trailers available for residents who had lost their homes in the storm. During the clean-up for the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill many of these mobile homes were brought in to house cleaning crews. It is still possible to purchase a mobile home from FEMA; however, you should be careful in making your purchase. Many homes are in poor condition as they were used to house large numbers of people for an extended period of time. Others contain formaldehyde.
