How to Get Rid of Mildew From a Camper

Pop-up campers are typically only used a few times during the year, in the summer months. This leaves a lot of time for the camper to accumulate mildew and mold. Learning to get rid of mildew or mold from your camper will allow you to use the camper to its full potential.

  • Water
  • Bucket

      Open the pop-up camper. Check windows to ensure that they are shut. Wet the outside of the camper with a garden hose. Mix equal parts bleach and water in bucket. Scrub the outside of the canvas with scrub brush, and rinse with water. Allow canvas to dry completely.

      Remove all curtains, cushions and other fabrics from the camper. Wash them in warm water and let them sun-dry completely.

      Vacuum the camper to remove dirt and other debris. Use an equal parts bleach and water mixture to wipe down all surfaces in the camper. Let the camper dry completely.

      Place an open box of baking soda inside the camper for several days. Replace all items inside the camper. Check for any leaks or moisture problems in the camper. Fix any of these problems before storing the camper.
