How to Read an RV Tank Level and Battery Voltage Gauge

When vacation time rolls around, many families take to the road in a recreational vehicle. RVs have gauges to monitor the tank levels, inside temperature and the battery voltage. The gauges help you decide when you need to add water to the water tanks or empty the waste tank on a trip. The battery gauge helps you decide how long you can operate the RV's lights and appliances without discharging the battery beyond its starting capacity.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the button on the keypad for the potable water or the waste tank volume. The tank volume displays in decimals on the LED screen for about 5 seconds. The display will revert to the ambient temperature inside the RV after 5 seconds. Continue this process to check the level in each tank.

    • 2

Press the "Battery" button and release it to display the battery voltage. The battery voltage will appear on the LED screen for about 5 seconds then change to the RV inside temperature.

    • 3

Press and release a tank or battery button, then press it a second time. This will continuously display this tank level on the screen. Placing a water tank on the continuous monitoring mode allows a user to observe the water level while filling a tank or dumping the waste tank. An indicator light illuminates showing "Hold" so the user knows the gauge is on continuous monitoring for this tank. The hold mode lasts about 5 minutes. Press a tank or battery button a third time to release the continuous monitoring feature and return to the inside RV temperature.
