How to Remove a Latch From an Airstream RV
The old Airstream trailers are easily identified by their silver and chrome exterior and the rounded shape, giving them the name "Airstream." These trailers are now collector's items, and refurbishing them becomes a hobby and passion for many. When the latches give out on an Airstream, it is time to remove and replace them. Removing a latch on an Airstream is done at home and should take about an hour.

Lower the Airstream steps to access the step latch system.

Cut off the latch rod holding the step in position using the hacksaw. Find this rod under the step at the attachment point on the latch.

Saw off the squared latch rod on the underbelly of the right outrigger, where the step is help in position by the latch.

Cut the underbelly off using the standard saw and let the rod and latch fall off.

Remove the latch from the area.
