How to Replace RV Drapes

When your RV is starting to look old or you purchase a used unit, you will want to upgrade the decor and personalize it to match your personality. An ideal and inexpensive place to start is with the drapery. After adding new draperies, you can accessorize the RV with throw pillows, carpeting and bedding to match. Draperies are not difficult to make, nor do they take much time to make.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to a fabric store and pick out a pre-lined fabric of your choice. Thin fabric might look attractive but doesn't allow for much privacy.

    • 2

Lay out the old drapes if you still have them to use as a guide for how much material you will need. Old drapes are the perfect pattern to help figure out how to make yours.

    • 3

Measure the length and width of each window if you do not have the old curtains. Start two inches past the rod, and measure two inches past the rod on the other end so that you have enough material. Measure from the top of the rod to five inches past the window sill to ensure you have enough fabric, and it hangs the entire length of the window.

    • 4

Sew a loop on the fabric for the rod to slide through, and hem along all edges.

    • 5

Slip the curtain loops onto the rod, and hang or sew on plastic hangers to slide over the rod.

    • 6

Attach the rod to the window.
