      Tape measure

Measure the existing cushions with a tape measure. The proper way to measure for replacement cushions is to measure the length, width and depth of each cushion. Write down the measurements on paper. As an alternative, you can enter the measurements into a phone, PDA or other storage device.

Replacement cushions come in many fabrics

Decide on the type of fabric you want. Some people will want, or need, high durability in their replacement cushion fabrics as they have kids and pets traveling in the RV. Others will desire the high-end look and luxury that leather or mohair offers. Replacement cushions may come with choices of inner springs or foam. Foam is always less expensive. Cushions with inner springs tend to last longer and offer more support.

RV stores will carry replacement cushions

Locate the best replacement cushions at local RV stores. Fabric stores that sell cushions and boating/marine stores are other good choices. Another option would be establishments that sell replacement cushions for patio furniture. Choose the fabric and colors for the replacement cushions. Many places will require you to special order the cushions.

Remove the old cushions and discard them. Removal is usually a simple task. Most RV cushions will easily lift off of their base. Certain styles of RV furniture will have the cushions fastened with hook and loop tape to keep the cushions from flying around during travel. Some cushions are fastened to the furniture frame with screws located on the underside of the furniture. To remove these cushions, simply turn the furniture on its side, remove the screws with a screwdriver and lift off the cushion. Save the screws for the replacement cushions.

Install the replacement cushions. These should fit on the frames in the same manner that the old cushions were removed. Use the screws that were removed to install the new cushions onto the frame where necessary.
