How to Decorate an RV

An RV is essentially a home away from home for those enthusiasts who love to travel in them. Despite the fact that it's only a fraction of the size of the average home, decorating an RV is just as important as decorating a home. Dealing with compact space may prove to be a challenge, but these tips will make decorating your RV a breeze.

Instructions

    • 1

Figure out what your budget for decorating is. Maybe you want granite counter-tops and cherry wood throughout, but if your budget is a few hundred dollars, stick to the simple things that add a punch here and there.

    • 2

Consider what style you would like to have. Some choose to have a theme approach like the beach, rustic cabin or nautical. Others like to stick to traditional decorating, maybe similar to their home. Whatever style is chosen, it should make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

    • 3

Start with what is important to you. If comfort is top on your list, replace the factory furniture for upgraded furniture that is RV compatible. If décor is important, change curtains, reupholster what you have or change out the flooring.

    • 4

Convert household decorating to RV style by using Velcro to ensure things aren't moving around when on the go. Always keep in mind how things shift when traveling, so be creative with ideas. Velcro holds wall pictures in place, rubber shelf liners keep shelf items from sliding around and could there be anything better than bungees to tie things down. Experimentation is the key to find what works for your things.

Remember that decorating is an ongoing process. Don't toss out that wish list because you can't afford it all right now. Take things one at a time and revise the list as your tastes change. By choosing the updates wisely you will find the time you spend in your RV more enjoyable because it reflects who you are.
