An RV is a big investment and you want to make sure you're getting a fair deal. Instructions

Know the condition. Take an objective look around the RV and be honest about the work it may need. Look for dents or leaks, the condition of the appliances, Does it need any repairs? Is the mileage where it should be, given the RVs age?

    • 2

Consider all the extras--they add up. Include awnings, an air conditioning unit and special mirrors.

    • 3

Compare to similar RVs listed for sale. Go online and search for other RVs like yours. The asking figures may be a little off from fair market value, but they will give you an idea of what people expect.

    • 4

Glance at book values but don't rely on them. They're established by taking a percentage of the manufacturers suggested retail price. They are often inaccurate.

    • 5

Consider a consignment program for a quick sale. Listing the RV yourself is easy enough, but it may take a while to sell. Check with your local RV dealership. Some have consignment programs for used RVs. The benefit is that they do all the work and have more resources and contacts than you do.
