Familiarize yourself with your company's reimbursement policy. Usually you need an expense report form from your company and your transportation receipt.
Get a receipt. If you're taking the subway in New York, the vending machine will prompt you to request a receipt at the end of the transaction. When using a credit card to pay your cab bill, the electronically generated receipt will automatically contain both the fare and the tip. Otherwise, make sure to tell the driver you want a receipt that includes the tip when you hand him your cash.
File an expense report according to your company policy. Make sure to attach your receipt.
Call Transit Control at 877-337-2017 and request a trip status if you are a disabled person who has registered with Access-A-Ride and requested service, but you have not received a ride within 30 minutes. The operator will try to contact your ride or find you a new one. If there are no available vehicles, the operator will provide you with an authorization number. Write this down.
Call a car service or hail a cab. At the end of your ride, pay the driver and make sure to request a receipt that includes the amount of the tip. Ensure the cab or car service company contact information, including address, is printed on the receipt.
Send the receipt, your AAR ID number and your NYC Transit authorization number to:
