The Swiss Chocolate train, which takes visitors to the Cailler-Nestlé chocolate factory, runs from June to October, and also stops at the Gruyere cheese factory. You can stop and tour the castle, sample some of the famous Swiss cheese and see it being made, before heading off to enjoy your chocolate.
The Glacier Express, also known as the World's Slowest Express Train, runs through the Swiss Alps at 22 miles an hour, so you won't miss the 291 bridges and 91 tunnels. It runs between Zermatt and St. Moritz and takes seven hours and 30 minutes. It runs all year round.
Switzerland's funicular railway system is used in mountain passes where the steep gradient makes it impossible to place normal railway lines. The funicular uses a mix of railway lines and a cable system to lift the coaches. As one car moves up the slope, the other moves down and they counterbalance each other. These can be found throughout the country.
