Amtrak does not reimburse riders for late trains. Their Disclaimer of Liability states that the company does not guarantee its services. Services include timetables, fares, routing, equipment, services and information.
Amtrak's liability policy also holds the company free from responsibility for expenses or damages resulting from late trains. This includes lost profits or any loss in business.
The only exception to Amtrak's policy is when a delayed train causes a passenger to miss an Amtrak guaranteed connection. In this case, Amtrak provides alternate transportation or overnight hotel accommodation.
