Rails of New England

• Affordable Tours' guided, eight-day rail tour of New England covers cities throughout Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire. The trip starts in Boston, where guests visit the Old North Church, Boston Commons and Beacon Hill. Later, travelers move north to Lexington and Concord, the site of the first battles of the American Revolution. Portland, Maine is the next stop, where travelers may take in the view of Maine's beaches and then move on to North Conway, New Hampshire. The next stop is Vermont, "arriving at the scenic town of Woodstock to visit the Billings Farm and Museum, a modern working dairy farm and museum of Vermont life in the 1890s." • For those interested in creating their own itinerary or who prefer self-guided tours, Amtrak offers rail service throughout the United States. For example, travelers may visit the entire east coast by booking a trip on Amtrak's Palmetto or Silver Service lines. These trains stop in New York, Washington, D.C., Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami. The Palmetto line offers business class cars, while the Silver Service line provides coach class seating as well as sleeping and dining cars. Each train runs on daily service between its respective stops.
