  1. Lester River Train

    • The North Shore Scenic Railroad offers daily excursion train tours on their Lester River Train. This is a 1 1/2-hour trip through downtown Duluth that continues up the shore of Lake Superior to the Lester River, where riders will catch views of the lake and the Minnesota countryside before heading back to the Duluth train station. The train runs from late May through early October. At the beginning of summer departures are once daily Monday through Thursday, and twice per day on Fridays and Saturdays. In later summer, departures are more frequent. The Lester River Train is handicapped accessible.

    Two Harbors Train

    • North Shore Scenic Railroad's Two Harbors Train is a six-hour tour that begins at the Duluth depot, then travels along the scenic, northern shore of Lake Superior past Knife River to the quaint town of Two Harbors. Riders have a two-hour layover in Two Harbors to enjoy lunch and sightseeing before heading back to Duluth. The Two Harbors Train runs from late May through mid-September. In early summer, the train departs daily on Fridays and Saturdays; later in the season, a Sunday departure is added.

    • North Shore Scenic Railroad offers a variety of special excursions throughout the train season. On select dates in August and September, the Two Harbors route is pulled by the SOO #2719, the railroad's historic steam locomotive. In June, the Pepsi Marathon/Grandma Marathon train takes riders to the marathon starting line, and then follows the runners for a while before arriving at the finish line in time to catch the winners. From July through October, on select Saturday evenings, the Elegant Dinner Train takes riders along the scenic Lakefront Line while they dine. Other train tours include: Murder on the Disoriented Express (a murder-mystery train ride); Fall Colors Tour; The Pumpkin Train, which takes riders to the railroad's secret pumpkin patch; The Fall Beer Tasting Train; and The Polar Express. The Bed and Breakfast Train partners with the Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast in Two Harbors, providing accommodations and round-trip train ride for a weekend train getaway.
