How to Convert a CDL in Florida

Drivers who possess a commercial driver's license (CDL) and move permanently to the state of Florida are advised to convert their old CDL into one from their new state (although it is not legally required). Gaining a Florida license helps motorists understand the driving laws of their new state. To complete the process, drivers must pass a number of administrative stages and complete a knowledge test at a Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle (HSMV) office. Upon successful completion of these stages, drivers must pay the fees relevant to their class of CDL and discard their old license before they receive their Florida CDL.
