Check the wheels for correct and equal pressure if the chair veers left of right, or turns sluggishly. Ensure that the nuts and bolts holding the wheel stem are secure.
Clean the battery terminals if the power chair does not respond to commands. Verify that the joystick is in the "Off" position. Pull the release lever beneath the front of the seat. Tilt the seat back and lock it in the upward position. Disconnect the wire harness from the front and rear battery. Disconnect the battery retention strap. Wearing the rubber gloves and goggles, lift the front battery out of the frame. Slide the rear battery forward and lift out of the frame. Examine the battery clamps and terminals for corrosion. Verify that the plastic caps are in place over the battery cell holes. Clean the terminals as well as inside the battery clamps with the wire brush. When finished cleaning, the area should be shiny. Dust away the metal particles and replace the battery.
Engage the motor lock if only one drive wheel turns. This could mean that one motor lock has disengaged. To engage the motor lock, pull the motor lock levers upward. Motor lock disengagement/engagement allows for free wheeling or joystick controlled operation. Free wheeling allows for an assistant to maneuver the chair without power.
Replace the fuse on the PTO (Power Take Off Block) if the power indicator light remains off, even after recharging. The PTO is located on the battery wiring harness. Remove the fuse from the PTO block and replace the fuse with a type - ATM 15 fuse.
Remove the battery and add distilled water to the cells if the battery charge is low. Do not overfill the cells. Keep the liquid level in the cells at the "split ring" level. Do not use tap water to fill the battery cells.
