Determine how much time you have to travel between Madrid and Seville. If you have ample time, consider driving or traveling by bus. If you need to be in Seville quickly or if you do not wish to spend too much time getting there, consider flying or taking a train.
Travel by car. The most direct route for drivers traveling from Madrid to Seville is driving on the A-4 highway directly from Madrid to Seville. Alternatively, you can travel westward on the A-5 highway to the city of Merida where you can travel south on the A-66 highway to Seville. The driving time between the two cities is about six hours.
Travel by bus. An affordable option is taking a bus from Madrid's Estacion Sur to the Plaza de Armas station in Seville. Based in Madrid, Socibus was established in 1992 and operates comfortable long-distance coaches between Seville and Madrid. The journey takes approximately six hours but you need to account for the bus schedule.
Travel by high-speed train. The Alta Velocidad Española or AVE trains reach speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour (or 186 miles per hour), completing the trip to Seville in about three hours. Trains offer two classes of service, a dining area and a family area.
Trains are wheelchair accessible and depart from Atocha Station, the main AVE hub in Madrid. Tickets can be purchased online through Spain's national rail company, Renfe, as well as at train stations or on the train.
Travel by air. Iberia Airlines provides the only direct non-stop service from Madrid's Barajas International Airport to Seville. Spanair and other airlines offer connecting flights through Barcelona and other Spanish airports. Seville Airport is situated on the A-4 highway, 10 kilometers (or 6.2 miles) from Seville's city center. Arriving passengers can travel by taxi or use regular bus service, which takes about 40 minutes.
