Decide on the preferred mode of travel as ferries and buses depart Jiangmen for Macau. The ferry is the most convenient way to travel and will take a little over three hours to do the 40 miles. However, although the bus is not as convenient as the ferry, it departs several times a day while the ferry only operates one trip a day. The bus can take between two and a half hours to three hours to get to Macau as it has to pass through several towns and cities on its way.
Once you have decided on the preferred mode of transport, you need to find the location of the terminal you are departing from. Ask at the reception of your hostel or hotel for directions. If it is far from where you are staying, ask whether there is a shuttle service to the terminal. If there is no shuttle service, arrange for the hotel to call you a taxi on the day of departure.
Be prepared for the trip. The journey from Jiangmen to Macau is fairly long whether going by bus or ferry, so remember to pack accordingly. It is worthwhile packing something to eat and drink for the duration of the journey.
