How to Get a Passport to USA From China

China occasionally places restrictions on visa renewals within China and sometimes requires that foreign visitors return to their home country to have their visa renewed. Returning home can be expensive and, in some instances, impossible. Therefore, it might be easier if you use a visa service in the United States to renew your visa on your behalf at a Chinese consulate. If you are coordinating with a visa service to renew a Chinese visa, finding a way to get the passport from China to the U.S. is easy, but risky. To safeguard your passport, it is better to use a reliable shipping company that offers insurance and tracking services. United Parcel Service (UPS) operates in China and the United States U.S. and has a solid reputation of shipping packages safely and effectively.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the UPS website. (see Resources) UPS has a website for China in English and Chinese. Select China-English.

    • 2

Find a UPS location. Select "find locations" at the top of the UPS China web page. UPS generally operates in larger cities, so you may need to go to a larger city to find a UPS location. Select the largest city near you to get the address, contact information and hours of service for the location.

    • 3

Go to the UPS service location. The customer service representative should speak some English if they are not fluent. The UPS service center will be similar to all UPS locations around the world. All forms and packaging will be available in the service center for free.

    • 4

Fill out the UPS international air bill. The international air bill will be written in English and Chinese. You may also need a customs form, which is separate from the customs section of the international air bill. Write "documents" for description---do not write passport. Give an estimated monetary value in the section provided, which is required for customs. Because it is a document, keep the estimated value low, and no more than $5. If you are paying by credit card, fill in the credit card number on the air bill in the section provided. Otherwise, pay cash at the register. You will also need to fill out the sender and receiver's address and phone number.

    • 5

Package the passport in the cardboard envelopes available for free. Remove the top portion of the international air bill and put the rest inside the plastic cover on the envelope or remove the wax backing from the air bill and stick to the outside of the envelope. Keep the top portion of the air bill for your receipt and for the tracking number.

    • 6

Pay at the register. The customer service representative will enter all the relevant information, give you a receipt and take your package to be shipped.
