Apply for a passport at one of the 28 acceptance facilities in Houston. Go to http://www.us-passport-service-guide.com/houston-passport.html to find one near you.
Apply at the U.S. embassy or consulate, located at 6000 Reims Road, Houston, TX 77036
Fill out a DS-11 form, which is an application for a United States passport. Save time by printing one online and filling it out before you arrive at the agency. You will have to apply in person if it is your first passport, or if you are under the age of 16.
Present evidence that you are a United States citizen, such as a birth certificate or previous passport.
Present identification, such as a valid driver's license, military I.D. or a previous passport.
Photocopy all documents, front and back, and submit them at the agency. You can make photocopies at the local print shop, like the Copy Doctor located at 3814 Bissonnet Street, or, at the Fed Ex Office Print Center at 2200 Southwest Freeway.
Have a head-shot photo taken. Photos should be 2-by-2 inches, clear and current. Bring two identical photos, printed on clean photo paper, with you to the agency. Pay the application fee. You can take and print the picture yourself, or you can go to the Houston Walgreens or Kinkos near you. Gregory's Deli also takes passport photos, located at 1919 Smith St. Most acceptance facilities offer to take your photo for an extra charge of $15.
Pay the application fee, and submit all paper work.
