Download, print and complete the Ecuadorian passport application at the website of any Consulate General or Embassy of Ecuador. There are seven Ecuadorian consulate generals in the United States and one embassy in Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, Beverly Hills, Miami, New York, Newark and San Francisco. See the Resources section below for a full list of addresses and contact information.
Gather the additional items needed for application. These include your original Ecuadorian identification card known as the Cédula. You must have the card to apply for a passport. If you previously held a passport and it was lost or stolen, the consulate must create a sworn statement concerning its loss. The processing fee is $20. The fee for the new passport is $110 and must be paid in cash or money order made out to the Consulate General of Ecuador. Personal checks are not accepted.
Submit your application form in person along with the fee and your Cédula. You must apply in person. The passport takes between three and 10 business days to process, so if you live far from the consulate, include a prepaid self-addressed envelope with your application so your passport can be mailed to you.
