How to Get the Illinois I-PASS

If you travel the Illinois Tollway frequently, you can save time and money by getting an I-PASS transponder. These devices attach to your dash or windshield and allow you to bypass the longer cash lines on the Illinois Tollway. I-PASS can also be used to pay tolls on the Chicago Skyway, the Indiana Toll Road and on any U.S. toll roads where E-ZPass is accepted. Purchase an I-PASS online or in person at a variety of locations around the state.

  Gather the necessary information before calling or visiting an I-PASS service center. You will need an email address, credit card or debit card, state driver’s license number, your license plate number, and the make, model and year of the vehicle you are buying the I-PASS for.

  Go to illinoistollway.com to purchase online.
  Go to the main Tollway office, one of the Tollway customer service centers or a retailer that sells I-PASS transponders to purchase in person. The main Tollway office is at 2700 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove. Tollway customer service centers are located at the rest areas called O'Hare Oasis, Lake Forest Oasis; DesPlaines Oasis, Chicago Southland Lincoln Oasis and Belvidere Oasis. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
  
  Visit one of about 200 Jewel-Osco locations or select Road Ranger locations to purchase an I-Pass transponder.
  
  Call 800-824-7277 to order an I-PASS transponder. Line is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

  Call 1-800-926-6500 to activate your I-PASS transponder. You will need the information collected in Step 1. You can also activate the I-PASS online at illinoistollway.com
