What is Turkish coffee?

Turkish coffee is a method of preparing unfiltered coffee. Coffee is finely ground and boiled in a cezve (pronounced jezz-veh), which is a handle-less brass or copper coffee pot. The beans are roasted very finely, brewed and served in small cups. It is made with very finely ground coffee beans, which are boiled and then left to settle. Turkish coffee is traditionally made in a special pot called an ibrik, or cezve.

The coffee is usually served with a glass of water and a sweet or savory snack.

Traditional Turkish coffee is prepared using a specific technique that involves adding cold water to finely-ground coffee powder and sugar in a cezve and bringing the mixture to a boil over low heat. As the coffee rises to the surface, it forms a foam, and the coffee is stirred to evenly distribute it back into the liquid. The process is repeated two to three times, allowing the foam to rise each time.

The coffee is then left to settle, and the clear liquid is poured into a cup. Depending on personal preferences, the coffee can be drunk black or with sugar. It's worth mentioning that Turkish coffee is traditionally served in small cups, which allows the drinker to savor the flavor and enjoy the aroma of the coffee.
