Measure the dimensions of the interior and exterior of the camper shell. Convert these to scale on the graph paper. Draw out your desired setup for the camper's interior. Place beds, shelves or cabinets where you want them.
Shop for your shelves, cabinets or frames at RV and camper salvage yards to save money. Many times, these salvage yards will have the parts or additions you need at a significant savings. Place these in the camper shell according to your sketches and secure them with bolts, washers and nuts.
Plan out where you will add roof vents. Use vents for both winter and summer camping. Open the vent slightly in winter when using propane or kerosene heaters to prevent asphyxiation in the camper. Open the vent in summer to provide air circulation. Cut the hole in the roof with a power saw, attach the vent according to the vent kit's instructions, and seal the cut with waterproof caulking.
Attach the sport racks to the roof or back tail area of the shell depending on the racks and the gear to be stored.
Add a generator to the camper shell to provide power for electric devices when they are not plugged into outside sources. Attach an awning over the doors of the camper for a protective covering from sun and rain when at rest.
