What were internment camps used for?
During World War II, the United States government forcibly removed and incarcerated over 120,000 Japanese Americans, mostly on the West Coast, into internment camps. These camps were used to hold Japanese Americans without due process or criminal charges, solely based on their race and perceived threat to national security. The internment of Japanese Americans was a grave injustice and a violation of their civil rights, and it remains a dark chapter in American history.
