Fergus Falls, Minn., offers a great escape for a family vacation or romantic weekend getaway. Just 2½ hours northwest of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Fergus Falls holds the distinction of being the largest city in west-central Minnesota, with a population of only 13,000. Great outdoor activities abound in the area, including hiking, biking, birdwatching and camping.     • Located on Swan Lake, the Swan Lake Resort offers campsites for pop-up campers, tents and RVs. Campsites are scattered throughout the resort in shaded areas, and selected sites offer water and electricity hookups. Campground features include fire rings, picnic tables, shower facilities and a laundry room. The resort features a marked swimming area, horseshoes, a bocce court, volleyball, badminton and disc golf. Swan Lake offers great fishing for walleye, sunfish, crappie and large-mouth bass. The resort's convenience store provides a variety of food and supplies, from night crawlers to ice cream. Swan Lake Resort also offers free use of kayaks, canoes and paddle boats for guests to enjoy some fun on the Lake.

    Elks Point Campground

    • Elks Point Campground offers tent and trailer camping in a remote, peaceful location on Wall Lake. Selected sites offer water hookups, as well as 30- and 50-amp electrical service. Selected lakeside sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground features a sewage disposal station, a screened-in pavilion, restrooms and shower facilities, an on-site restaurant and bar and a playground for the kids. Just seven miles from the Fergus Falls town center, Elks Point Campground offers a relaxing getaway.

    Delagoon Park Campground

    • Delagoon Park Campground, operated by the city of Fergus Falls, offers 14 camper hookups and 22 tent campsites in the Pebble Lake area. The campground includes restrooms, a picnic shelter, picnic tables, grills and a playground. Guests also have access to a boat launch at Pebble Lake. Outdoor activities include hiking, biking and wildlife observation. The campground offers easy access to the nearby Central Lakes Trail, a 55-mile paved trail between Fergus Falls and Osakis. Delagoon Park Campground provides sites on a first-come, first-served basis only. The Campground collects fees on site, and camping is limited to a maximum of one week. Delagoon Park Campground welcomes guests from early spring to late fall, weather permitting.
