Why are the dunes at Camber Sands threatened?

Camber Sands is vulnerable to rising sea levels due to its low-lying location on the Sussex coast, increasing storm frequency and intensity due to climate change, as well as human activities on the dunes. Over the years, some sand dunes at Camber Sands have been damaged due to human-induced erosion caused by factors such as uncontrolled off-roading, trampling, and removal of natural vegetation for leisure activities. In addition, coastal development and engineering efforts aimed at protecting nearby settlements have altered natural sediment processes, further impacting the stability of the dunes.
