Art-Hostel in Skopje, Macedonia

Skopje is Macedonia's capital and largest city, home to over half a million people. With a long history dating back to ancient times, Skopje has its share of historic sites and attractions such as the historic old town, Macedonia Square and over a dozen important churches. The Vardar River runs through the city. As its name implies, the Art-Hostel is an artsy, funky hostel popular with backpackers and budget travelers.

Vodro Mountain overlooks the hostel and the Vardar River is just a five-minute walk away. Nearly all of the city's important sites are a five- to 10-minute walk from the hotel. Skopje is located in northwestern Macedonia.

    • Aside from the Vardar River, Vodro Mountain and the historic downtown, there are several important and interesting historic and cultural sites a 15- t0 30-minute walk from the Art-Hostel. Some of these include the Stone Bridge (one mile away) the Museum of Contemporary Art (1.5 miles), the Turkish Bazaar (1.3 miles), the Mother Theresa Museum (0.6 miles) and the Museum of Natural Sciences (two miles away). Macedonia Square, the largest and most important town square in Skopje, is located just 0.5 miles away from the hostel, as are the historic buildings and churches of the old town district.

    • There is a cafe and bar on-site at the Art-Hostel, but those who want to dine out need only walk five to 10 minutes to find restaurants such as Ljuc Restaurant, Dal Fofu Galija Restaurant, Dal Met Fu Restaurant, Wild Restaurant, Kaj Zlate Restaurant, Restaurant Victoria and even a McDonald's.
