Youth Hostels in Paris, Zone 1

Backpackers and budget travelers in France can rest assured: Paris has a wide assortment of youth hostels located in its most central area, defined as Zone 1 by the city's public transportation authority.
  1. Montmarte

    • The Sacre Coure is a top Montmarte attraction.

      The Lonely Planet website calls Le Village Hostel, "definitely one of the most desirable budget addresses in Montmartre." Other hostels in this happening neighborhood include Le Montclair Montmartre, Square Caulaincourt, Perfect Hostel and Woodstock Hostel.

    Latin Quarter

    • The Young and Happy Hostel is a mainstay in the bustling Latin Quarter, while its neighbor, OOPS!, bills itself as the first design hostel in Paris.

    Party Scene

    • On Hostelworld.com, the Peace and Love Hostel says it's the place for the traveler "who wants to party, drink and be merry!" The 3 Ducks hostel has its own pub that boasts of the cheapest beer in Paris.

    Hostelling International

    • Paris has four hostels with Hostelling International affiliation, meaning they have met the organization's standards for comfort, cleanliness and security. They are the Jules Ferry, Clichy, Le d'Artagnan and Cité des Sciences youth hostels. All are in Zone 1; Jules Ferry is the most central.

    Locally Affiliated Hostels

    • The BVJ organization runs a hostel near the Louvre.

      The Bureau des Voyages de la Jeunesse (BVJ) has one hostel in the Latin Quarter and another next to the Louvre. The Maison Internationale de la Jeunesse et des Étudiants (MIJE) runs three hostels set in restored historic mansions in the Marais quarter.
