The Budget Inn in San Augustine is a short 23-minute drive from Broaddus. The inn is on Highway 96, and is convenient to dining and local attractions such as the Augus Theater and the Log Cabin. San Augustine is the site of the first university and the first anglo settlement in Texas. If you're a history buff, the county has 70 historical markers as well as historic churches and homes, six of which are in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also the site of the first Spanish mission in Texas, built in 1717.
