Leupp is a census-designated place in northern Arizona's Cocino County; Leupp was home to just under a thousand people, as of the 2000 U.S. Census. Leupp, about 13 square miles in size, was home to a Japanese internment camp -- the Leupp Isolation Center -- during World War II, the abandoned ruins of which are still standing on the Navajo reservation. Travelers also flock to the nearby city of Winslow, where a number of historic sites still stand.
La Posada Hotel was first built in 1929, based on the designs of architect Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, to service the nearby Santa Fe Railroad.
