The seat of the United States government sits on Capitol Hill in Washington, an area surrounded by residential and business areas made up of people from all walks of life. The Hill is home to the National Mall, which is filled with museums and attractions.     • The 343-room Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel, part of Affinia Hotels, is located within walking distance of the U.S. Capitol and Union Station. It features the in-house restaurant Art and Soul, which serves up modern Southern cuisine. You can also relax in ArtBar, the lobby lounge, or in the seasonal rooftop pool and bar, which offers views of the National Mall.

    Hotel George

    • Not far from the Liaison lies Hotel George on E Street, just a block from Union Station. The hotel advertises a range of stay packages, ranging from romantic getaways to shopping packages.     • The Mandarin Oriental Hotel is situated in Southwest D.C. on the other end of the National Mall on the Tidal Basin and just across from the Jefferson Memorial.     Phoenix Park Hotel

    • Situated near Union Station, the Phoenix Park Hotel first opened in 1922 as the Commodore, a hotel catering to travelers arriving at Union Station. The hotel originally had 140 rooms, but an entrepreneur bought the hotel in 1982 and renovated the building, reducing the rooms to 120 and adding a ninth floor before reopening in 1985. The hotel keeps to its Irish theme with the Dubliner Pub, featuring live Irish entertainment every night.
