Joe's Pond was given its name on June 11, 1785 by the Vermont Legislature in recognition of one of the area's early settlers. Joe Hazen regularly fished and hunted in and around the pond; he also was very instrumental in helping the Micmac Indians and early settlers create a peaceful coexistence. Currently, the area around Joe's Pond only has cabin and cottage rentals. If you are looking for a hotel near Joe's Pond, you need to travel 13 miles east to St. Johnsbury or 10 miles southwest to Marshfield, Vermont.
