Grand Turk is home to the Turks and Caicos islands' capital, Cockburn Town. According to the Turks and Caicos tourism board, it is believed to be the site of Christopher Columbus' first landfall in the New World. The island is known for its diving and snorkeling due to the large coral reef just offshore. It is not the most popular tourist destination in the country, however, there are hotels in and around the island. Most of Grand Turk's hotels have dive and accommodation packages.
The Bohio Dive Resort is on the beachfront and has 16 rooms and suites, all with ocean views. The rooms have air-conditioning, refrigerators and high speed Internet access. The resort is owned by scuba diving enthusiasts who have a dedicated hotel diving boat. There is also an onsite dive shop for guest use. All-inclusive diving and accommodations packages are available, which provide tanks, weights, a dive guide and 10 dives. The onsite Guanahani Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers catering services for private events. There are also two bars onsite. Activities include complimentary kayaks and bikes for guests, a pool and free weekly yoga classes.
