A trip to Las Vegas does not have to be expensive. Finding a hotel room for $40 a night is possible if you know when to go and where to look. The most affordable accommodations are available in December and January, with the exception of the periods around the holidays. With so many hotels located on the Strip, it isn't difficult to find an inexpensive place to stay in the middle of all the action.

Circus Circus offers rooms for as low as $41.67 a night. This family-friendly hotel has an indoor theme park and free circus shows with trapeze artists, jugglers and contortionists. Cable TV and wireless Internet access are features available in all rooms. This hotel and casino is on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip near the Stratosphere and across the street from the Convention Center.

A stay at Harrah's in the middle of the week in December costs about $39 for a classic room. These rooms include either one king-size or two queen-size beds, a mini-bar and 24-hour room service. Harrah's also is one of the Las Vegas monorail's stops, which makes traveling along the Strip convenient.
