Lodging in the Sierras

The Sierra Nevada stretches approximately 400 miles north and south and 70 miles east and west. It encompasses national forest, wilderness, as well as Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park and Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park. The lodging in the sierras varies so the visitor can take advantage of the many vacation activities of the area.
  1. Saint Bernard Lodge

    • Saint Bernard Lodge with its knotty pine interior and turn-of-the-20th-century décor is a favorite overnight stop for visitors to Lake Amador and Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park. Lake Amador is a place to go to relax and fish in the summer and go snowshoeing on the lake trails in the winter. Hike on Mount Lassen to see an active volcano. In true bed-and-breakfast style the lodge has seven rooms upstairs and offers a country breakfast every morning. Other amenities include hot tub, afternoon wine and hor d'oeuvores, trout pond, indoor and outdoor games and robe and slippers in each room.

Yosemite Apple Blossom Inn Bed and Breakfast

    • The inn is perched in the middle of an organic apple orchard and garden. The breakfast served at the Inn is made from organic fruits grown at the inn or in neighboring gardens. Rooms have private entrances on balconies; it seems as if you have the entire house to yourself. Bring a camera for your trip to Yosemite National Park, California Gold Country, Sugar Pine Railroad and the Wineries. The inn is pet and family friendly and has a family suite separate from the house. The bed and breakfast won an award for being the best inn for rest and relaxation.

    The Sierra Nevada House

    • In 1848 gold was discovered less than a mile from the inn in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Visit the site of the discovery, take a hot air balloon trip over the Coloma Valley or go white water rafting while staying at The Sierra Nevada House. The country hotel has comfortable beds, rooms with elegant antiques, private baths, its own veranda and view of the river valley. The inn also has a quality restaurant that serves lunch and dinner. This is the place to see the world as it was during the gold rush.

3 Peak Hotel Resort and Beach Club

    • The hotel is on South Lake Tahoe just a few blocks from a sandy beach, the casinos and first-class restaurants. Spend the day on the lake parasailing, kayaking or sport-fishing. In winter there is snow skiing and snowboarding. The hotel offers rooms, one- and two-bedroom suites and a five-bedroom cabin. All rooms are nonsmoking with pine furniture and paneling, with a choice of one king-size bed or two double-size beds. Ask about rooms with fireplaces in the winter. It is a pet-friendly hotel.
