Well known as the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World, Homer, Alaska, also boasts world class salmon fishing.     Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge

    • To reach Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge, take a 10-mile boat ride from Homer to Kachemak Bay State Park between Seldovia and Halibut Cove. Custom built from driftwood, Sadie Cove is an “ecologically conscious” lodge that runs entirely on wind and hydro power. The entire lodge can be rented to private parties of six or more, or smaller groups can rent simultaneously. Advance booking is recommended. Rooms start at $450 per guest per night plus $150 for boat transport to the lodge.

    Emerald Pines Lodge

    • Emerald Pines Lodge offers a choice of two private guest lodges, one accommodates up to four guests, while the other has just one bedroom. Emerald Pines specializes in chartered fishing trips and the owners promise “no big crowds here." Its most popular five-day, six-night full service fishing package provides lodging, meals, gear and processing of the catch for $4000 per person. Day salmon or halibut trips also are available for $250 each, or a combination day trip is priced at for $300 as of 2010.

    Homer FloatPlane Lodge

    • Centrally located in Homer, the Homer FloatPlane Lodge has seven guest cabins with 17 total beds. Each unit offers private entrances, bathrooms, cable and Wi-Fi, with meals served in the main lodge. The FloatPlane offers fishing trips out of the harbor, as well as scenic glacier flights and bear viewing packages in cooperation with Emerald Air Service. Rates vary by unit and package.

    Silver Fox Charters Lodge

    • Silver Fox Charters offers fishing packages with meals and accommodation from its 12,000 square foot fishing lodge in Homer. Accommodations for 12 people, up to 14 if all in one group, are available in six suites with private decks and bathrooms. Common rooms offers satellite TV, games, and DSL internet services. All fishing packages include processing of 50 pounds of fish per person and transportation to the lodge can be arranged. Two-night packages start at $1,400 per person as of 2010.

    Twin Creeks Trailhead

    • Up to 16 guests may stay in two buildings at Twin Creeks Trailhead Lodge and Retreat, located on the Homestead Trail on Diamond Ridge, just above Homer. Rooms have private baths, Wi-Fi and fully equipped kitchens. Additionally, a 700 square foot yurt is available for group events. All rooms are non-smoking; rates vary by room.
