Babine Steelhead Lodge is 45 miles away from the town of Smithers, BC. It is described as "a sports fisherman's paradise," by lodgesresorts.com, a website that lists Canada's lodges. The lodge is family-owned and accessible only by boat. A Steelhead Lodge van picks guests up from the Hudson Bay Lodge in Smithers and brings them to the Babine River. From there, they are ferried by a jet boat to the lodge. Babine Steelhead Lodge is on the pristine Babine River and is open for six weeks only, from mid-September to the end of October, for fly fishing. Operating 21-foot aluminum boats with 55 mercury jet motors, the lodge has 16 miles of fishing water. It only takes eight guests per week.
