The Farmhouse

• Located in Coon Valley, the Farmhouse sits just 30 miles outside De Soto. Both the Farmhouse and Deer Foot Cabin offer privacy, scenery and access to Coon Creek, a bountiful trout stream. Local attractions include a golf course, antique shops, access to the Wisconsin State Bicycle Trails as well as ample fishing and hunting opportunities.

  Deer Foot Cabin sleeps four and features a double bed as well as two bunk beds. A small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker with coffee and an updated full bathroom round out the accommodations. This pet-friendly cabin is stocked with linens and comes with air conditioning and heat.

  With a minimum two-night stay, the cabin rents for $75 per night for two people, with a $15 charge for each additional guest, as of 2010.

Crooked River Resort

• The Crooked River Resort is located just 30 miles from De Soto and offers outdoor activities for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy canoe, tube or kayak trips along the scenic Kickapoo River and can choose from short trips and overnight adventures.

  The property features seven cabins, from the rustic sleeper cabin that sleeps two to the Three Bears Cabin, which features sleeping space for eight, a bear-themed interior and a gas fireplace. These private cabins are all nestled in wooded surroundings and most include kitchens, showers and bed and bath linens. Guests must provide their own cooking and eating supplies, including utensils.

  Rates are between $30 and $100 for two people, depending on the cabin, as of 2010. Each cabin has a specific rate for any additional guests. Pets are welcome but must be leashed at all times when outside the cabins. Owners are responsible for waste removal, or a $10 fee will be charged.
