In operation since 1946, the Evening Shade River Lodge and Cabins is located near a 404-foot cascading waterfall and the huge boulders of the Rocky Broad River. The property includes the Riverside Park, a naturally landscaped setting with picnic areas, grills, benches, swings and campfire areas. Chimney Rock Village is less than five miles away and offers gem mining, gift stores, restaurants and a River Walk. Local activities include golf, hiking, tennis, boating, whitewater rafting and horseback riding. Three cabins are offered. The Lazy Lodge features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a game room with pool table, a stone fireplace, two queen futons and a fully equipped kitchen. The River Cottage includes a large screened deck with river view, one bedroom with a queen bed, a fully equipped kitchen and a sleeper sofa. The Waterfall Cabin features a fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom with a queen and a twin bed, and DirectTV.

Located on the Rocky Broad River near Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, the River View Cabins are close to fishing, tubing, rock climbing and kayaking. Golf, shopping, horseback riding and fine restaurants are also near by. Cabins include two one-bedroom units with sleeper sofas in the living room, and a two-bedroom unit with a large family room with a fireplace overlooking the river. Cabins are available year round.

The Dowling Cabins are located in the Blue Ridge mountains in Hickory Nut Gorge. Hiking, mountain climbing, tubing, rafting and snow skiing are available in the immediate area. Other activities include winery tours, apple picking, and waterfall exploration. Each cabin is beside a creek or the river. Linens and towels are provided, and amenities vary by cabin. Some have fireplaces, fully equipped kitchens, jacuzzis, TV/VCR/DVD units and laundry facilities. Three-, two- and one-bedroom cabins are available.
