Big Bear offers Southern Californians some of the best fishing, hiking and outdoors recreational activities during the summer and provides skiing and snowboarding adventures at Snow Summit and "The Park," during the winter. Some people may feel hampered when traveling because not all accommodations are pet-friendly. However, there are AAA-approved cabins in Big Bear that provide accommodations for guests and their pets.
Timberline Lodge sits among tall pine trees near Big Bear Village shops, restaurants and theaters. It offers pet owners an opportunity to travel and be accompanied by their dogs. There's a $20 pet fee for the first night and $10 each additional night. The cabins include a heated swimming pool, volleyball, horseshoes, picnic tables, fish-cleaning facilities and a children's play area with swings and sandbox. Most cabins have living rooms with fireplaces, kitchen, free wireless Internet and cable television. In addition, there are ski and snowboard rentals.

Big Bear Cool Cabins provide multiple rentals for visitors and their pets. Some cabins, such as the Lakeside Estate, Logey Lakefront and Lakeside Vintage, offer accommodations near the lake or docks, with picturesque views of Big Bear Lake and the mountain backdrops. The waterfront cabins are a popular location for fishing enthusiasts. Each cabin offers various amenities, including hot tubs, wireless Internet, full kitchen, fireplaces, decks and barbecue areas. Other sites, such as Lone Star, Lyon's Den, Martin's Mountain Top and Moonridge, are nestled among the woodlands, where guests and their pets can use the nearby hiking trails. Owners must keep their pets on a leash.

Cienaga Creek Ranch provides a leash-free hiking experience where your pet can roam through the pine forest. The accommodations surrounded by a rustic environment provide a comfortable camping experience. There is a Jacuzzi and bathing amenities that include imported soaps and Robeworks double layer robes. The nonsmoking cabins also have kitchens with marble counters.

Golden Bear Cottages, a diamond-rated resort, offers 29 mountain cabins for families, couples or individuals. The resort has a children-stay-for-free policy. In addition, the resort offers pet-friendly cabins with a gated area and a yard for pets to roam. The cabins are smoke-free facilities with fireplaces, full kitchens, cable television, big-screen televisions, free wireless Internet, Jacuzzis and maid service. Selected cabins are near the water, and guests can rent a boat, canoe or kayak and take their pet on the lake. There are hiking trails for pets, but they must be on a leash.
