Nelson Lake, Wisconsin, is a 2,503-acre man-made lake with 16 islands and 31 miles of shoreline. Local wildlife includes bald eagles, beaver, otter, muskrat, deer and bear. Four public boat landings and a county park near the Totagatic River dam offer opportunities for boating, pan fish and bass fishing, picnicking, and water-skiing. Reiske's Island View Resort is on the south end of Nelson Lake and features six lakeside housekeeping cabins available for daily or weekly rental. Each is equipped with microwave, refrigerator, stove and gas heat, plus a charcoal grill, deck and TV. The resort has a boat launch and fish-cleaning facilities on the premises and paddleboats and canoes are free for guests' use. Rental boats and motors are available as well. The resort is open for three seasons and does not permit pets. Miles of mountain biking and hiking trails, fishing and hunting are just a few of the local outdoor activities.

White Manor Resort, located on the southwest side of Nelson Lake, is open from spring through late fall. The resort features five housekeeping cottages, available for daily or weekly rentals. Cabins have private piers, fire pits, barbecue area and picnic tables. There is also a 14-foot fiberglass fishing boat. Motors and pontoon boats are available for rent, and a fish-cleaning facility is available for guests. Wireless Internet, a certified babysitter and butterfly gardens are some of the resort's amenities, plus a sandy swimming beach and play area. Nelson Lake provides 3,000 acres of water with abundant wildlife for observation and hunting. There is a yearly fishing tournament, and the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame is nearby, as well as many other area attractions and outdoor activities.
