Resorts Near Duluth, Minnesota

By far the best-known lake in the Duluth area is Lake Superior. After all, much of the city's livelihood depends on the lake. And while there are some resorts on Lake Superior, visitors to the Duluth area who only look in that direction will miss out on the resorts that are located on lakes other than Superior. While those lakes are certainly smaller than Superior, they may offer even more in the way of water-based recreation, since they are warmer and less susceptible to the wind.

  1. Hi-Banks Resort

    • Fish Lake has its name for a reason: The fishing there is good for a variety of fish species, including walleyes and crappies. The view from Hi-Banks Resort isn't bad either, as it is one of the few developments on the more than 3,000-acre lake. There are four cabins at Hi-Banks. One is a one-bedroom Jacuzzi suite, which also features a fireplace. There also are two cabins that have three bedrooms apiece, and one two-bedroom cabin. All of the cabins are located right on the lake, and each affords guests their own dock from which they can fish or watch the sun as it comes up or goes down. There is no on-site restaurant at the resort, but there are plenty of dining options in nearby Hermantown and Duluth.

The Inn also features "Captain's Suites," which include king-size beds and whirlpools. The Inn's on-site restaurant is called the Galley Restaurant, and it serves such fresh Lake Superior fish as lake trout and whitefish.
