How to Rate Resort Timeshares

Resort timeshares can be a great investment and a lot of fun for your family. In many cases, a resort exceeds your expectations, and occasionally they fall short of your standards. By knowing how to rate a resort timeshare, you can tell other prospective buyers where to strike gold and how to avoid a trap.

Things You'll Need

  • Notepad

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare for rating the timeshare before you even arrive. Buy a blank notepad just for this purpose and always have it on hand to make notes. Begin by making a list of what you expect from this timeshare based on materials you have read, information from friends and promises made by the resort. Clearly defining your expectations will help rate this timeshare later.

    • 2

Keep your expectations on your mind during the trip. Most likely, you and your family are visiting a timeshare to relax and have fun, so don't make rating a priority. However, if something pops into your head scratch it down in your notepad.

    • 3

Review your notes. A great place to do this is during the flight or drive home. Consult your family and friends who were on the trip. Determine what met their expectations, what impressed them and what disappointed them.

    • 4

Pretend you're a visitor. You don't need to take notes on yourself, but look at your list of expectations and ask whether you were objective. Decide whether some of your notes are in regards to personal preference and not something generally expected by visitors. Put yourself in another traveler's shoes, ask what notes will be helpful to someone without prior knowledge of this resort.

    • 5

Use your notes and rate your resort timeshare. Give your timeshares a rating such as a scale of one to five stars or a scale of one to 10.
