How to Make Timeshare Reservations

A timeshare is vacation accommodation -- usually a resort condominium -- that is partially owned by the resort, and partially owned by other parties. These are often private individuals. The partial owner has the right to use the property for a specific period of time, every year. There are many timeshares located all over the country, especially in prime tourist areas, such as Florida, Hawaii and California. There are several ways vacationers can reserve timeshares, including booking a reservation directly through the resort company, by using the Resort Condominiums International Network, or by using an online timeshare reservation directory. Sometimes you can make timeshare bookings through a local travel agency.

  Decide on the location where you would like to reserve the timeshare. Determine the dates you will be travelling.

  Plan ahead. Be flexible with your dates, since timeshares are often booked far in advance, and there is a possibility that your preferred dates may already be taken.

  Contact the timeshare resort condominium directly, through their reservations department, if they have one.

  Reserve a timeshare as a Resort Condominiums International (RCI) points member. Use the RCI website to search for and book timeshares all over the world.

  Research timeshare offers online. Use established online directories, such as My Resort Network or Resort Time.

  Check the websites of major hotel resorts. Contact their reservations department to reserve a timeshare.

  Use your local travel agency to locate timeshares. Ask a booking agent at the agency to find and reserve a suitable timeshare for you. You can do this on the phone or in person.
