How to Make Motel Reservations

Planning your next vacation means finding accommodations. Whether you're staying in a five-star resort or an economy motel, reservations can ensure the room you want will be waiting for you. Reservations are not required, as all motels rent rooms to anyone who walks in, provided they have vacancies. However, reservations are the only way to ensure you get the type of room you want.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the website of your desired motel chain, or visit a travel site such as hotels.com, Travelocity or Expedia to see a listing of all the motels located in your destination city.

    • 2

Make your reservation online by using the motel's website reservations center or a travel website. These sites often offer discounts on hotel rooms.

    • 3

Enter your check-in and check-out dates, the number of adults and children staying in your guestroom and the number of rooms you need. View the available room types and choose the one you want. Reserve the room by entering your name, email address, home address, phone number and credit or debit card information.

    • 4

Confirm your reservation by making sure all of the information you've input is correct and submitting your request. Keep a copy of the confirmation number for your records. Note: Some motels will charge your credit or debit card immediately; others will only use it to hold your reservations. Cancellation policies vary based on the motel where you made your reservation.
