Frenchy's Restaurant has four locations in the southern Florida area, all located in Clearwater: Frenchy's Original Cafe, Frenchy's Saltwater Cafe, Frenchy's Rockaway Grill and Frenchy's South Beach Cafe. The first restaurant opened in 1981 and features its own seafood company to catch the product from its own fishing docks. Frenchy's Seafood Company now boasts a fleet of commercial fishing boats for the restaurant. Some of Frenchy's most popular menu items include fish gumbo, the grilled grouper burger, crabby shrimp sandwich and grouper cheeks. In addition to regular dining, Frenchy's also offers arrangements for parties or large groups. The restaurant also features an extensive gift shop, offering souvenir T-shirts, hats and other souvenirs. Many locals maintain that Frenchy's has the best grouper sandwich in Clearwater. Those who frequent the restaurant say that it has the freshest fish in the area, perhaps because of Frenchy's own fishing company that catches the fish and never freezes it.
Island Way Grill in Clearwater offers lunch, dinner and brunch. Brunch, served only on Sundays, consists of options like Eggs Benedict, sausage and bacon, Belgian waffles, French toast and smoked salmon. The lunch and dinner menu features popular seafood entrees such as shrimp tempura, stone crabs, clams, scallops and crabcakes. Speciality fishes like red snapper, grouper or salmon can be prepared seared, grilled, blackened or sauteed. The lunch and dinner menu also features meat choices including chicken, meatloaf and tenderloin, as well as pasta dishes. The large sushi bar is also a popular choice at Island Way. Locals enjoy the restaurant for its specials, such as the "two early dinners for $20.10" deal, as well as its outside seating area and view of the city, including colorful sunsets.
O'Keefe's Family Tavern and Grill is located on Fort Harrison Avenue in Clearwater. The restaurant was established in 1961 by local Bill O'Keefe. Since that time, the restaurant has changed hands numerous times, but the restaurant remains in the same location with the same name. One interesting part of the restaurant's history occurred in the early 1970s, when a car slammed into the restaurant and destroyed everything inside. The car was stopped by a brick pole, which remains a centerpiece of the restaurant today. O'Keefe's occasionally holds special events, the biggest of which is its annual St. Patrick's Day celebration, which boasts more than two tons of corned beef and truckloads of green beer. O'Keefe's menu includes chicken wings, quesadillas, burger sliders, soups, salads, wraps and classic entrees, including the Seven Course Irish Dinner, fish and chips, meatloaf and various steak and seafood dinners. With its storied history, large celebrations and delicious food, O'Keefe's has been a Clearwater landmark for nearly half a century.
