    • Cottages are the second most prominent accommodation type on Sanibel, ranging from studio cottages to three-bedroom beach houses, with amenities similar to a resort hotel, but on a smaller scale. At Waterside Inn, guests can not only choose from an assortment of accommodations, including two-bedroom condominiums, but they can take a dip in the pool, grill dinner on the provided outdoor grills or cast a line into the Gulf of Mexico from the beach.     • The Island Inn's three lodges and seven cottages sit on 10 acres of land with 550 feet of beachfront for shelling or swimming. The inn also provides a swimming pool, as well as other amenities, including a butterfly garden. During the winter months, the inn's Traditions Dining Room serves dinner, announced each evening by the blowing of a conch shell. Just a five minute drive from the inn, the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum celebrates the island's main attraction, the shells that line Sanibel's beaches.

    Periwinkle Park and Campground

    • At Periwinkle Park and Campground, campers can pitch their tent, pull in their trailer or arrive in their RV. The campground provides full hookups, and many of the tent sites are not only secluded, but also shaded. The park is a half-mile from the beach and less than four miles from the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, where visitors can observe Sanibel's native wildlife, fish in Tarpon Bay or hike the trails that run through the refuge.
