Select a port on the western coast of the mainland to drop off your car for shipment. There are no ports that are located in Las Vegas from which you can ship your car because it is a landlocked state. The closest one is Long Beach, California, but other options are Seattle, Washington, and Oakland, California. Then choose the Hawaiian port to which you want your car shipped. If you are going to the island of Oahu, the port is Honolulu. There are also other ports on the islands of Hawaii, Maui and Kauai.
Make an appointment with the company for when and what time you need to drop off your car for shipment.
Clean out your car and remove any items that are not attached. You will also have to wash your car. Some prefer to have a full service detailing done to save time. Or you can wash it yourself. The shipping companies require customers shipping cars to do this so they can spot any signs of damage before the car ships, so they will not be liable for any previously existing damage.
Drive your car from Las Vegas to Long Beach. Driving to Long Beach can take up to five hours, so plan your trip accordingly.
Drop off your car at the port. You will have to meet with one of the company's representatives to fill out paper work. They will want to see your driver's license, car registration and proof of insurance. The will also inspect your car for any previously existing damage and notes will be made where the damage is located.
Pick up your car when it arrives in Hawaii. When you arrive at the port, you will be given the opportunity to inspect your car for any damage that may have occurred while in transport. For the company to release the car to you, you will be required to show the paperwork you received when the vehicle was shipped, your identification, registration and proof of insurance.
