Incorporated in 1850, Kenosha, Wisconsin, is 33 miles southeast of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and 52 miles northwest of Chicago, Illinois. For tourists, Kenosha is home to a number of attractions, such as the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, Kenosha HarborMarket and the Washington Park Velodrome. Visitors to the Kenosha area have a variety of accommodations from which to choose. For those who enjoy recreational vehicle camping, the city is within 30 minutes of a small number of RV parks, which feature on-site amenities and activities for a comfortable and memorable Kenosha vacation.
  1. Happy Acres Kampground

    • Located in Bristol, Happy Acres Kampground is 16 miles from Kenosha (approximately 28 minutes by automobile). The privately-owned campground offers 200 grassy recreational vehicle campsites, a number of which feature a specialized design that allows guests to pull their RVs into the spaces rather than backing them into the sites. The largest spots can accommodate vehicles up to 60 feet in length. Water and electric hookups are available at every campsite, and the camp has free wireless Internet access near the campground's office. On-site amenities include restrooms, pay showers, a waste dump, a mobile sewer service and a laundry facility. The campground operates a small store that sells basic groceries, firewood and RV supplies and also has an ATM. Guests can fish and swim in the campgrounds pond or use its in-ground, heated swimming pool. The park also features horseshoes, an indoor gameroom and playground. The campground is open May through the end of September.

    Richard Bong State Recreation Area

    • Operated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Richard Bong State Recreation Area is a public facility in Kansasville, around 17 miles from Kenosha (approximately 30 minutes by automobile). The camping area at the park features 217 RV campsites that measure 18 feet by 40 feet in size. Fifty-four of the spaces have electric hookups; water and sewage is not available at any of the campsites. The campground provides showers, restrooms, a waste dump, public telephones and free firewood. Wolf Lake is located at the recreation area for swimming, freshwater fishing and boating. Also available are horseshoe pits; a launch point for model aircraft, hot air balloons, rockets and handgliders; all-terrain vehicle and horseback-riding trails; a hunting area; and 41 miles of hiking, cycling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing trails. The campground operates year-round. The state of Wisconsin imposes a 21-day maximum length on all stays at the recreation area.

    Sanders Park

    • Situated in Racine and operated by Racine County, Sanders Park is a public area located 8 miles from Kenosha (approximately 16 minutes by automobile). The campground offers 27 grassy, back-in campsites that measure 20 feet by 30 feet in size. Ten of the sites feature water and electric hookups, and all of the spots offer electricity. The campground has showers, restrooms and a playground for campers. The park operates from mid-April through mid-October. The County enforces a maximum limit of 15 days for all stays at the park.
