Located about 50 miles east of Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area, Livermore is a small city in the heart of California's wine country. It offers visitors a mix of cultural and recreational activities. Its historic downtown is home to day spas, shopping, restaurants and outdoor concert venues.   1. Del Valle Regional Park

    • Located in southern Livermore, the Del Valle Regional Park sits in a scenic valley covered with groves of scrub oak and pine trees. The 5,000-acre park features a lake, a public boat launch, two swimming beaches and visitor center and several miles of scenic backcountry trails for hiking, horseback rides and bicycling. It is also the eastern access point of the 28-mile Ohlone Wilderness Trail. Del Valle campground has 150 primitive campsites, 21 of which are equipped for RVs with water and sewage hookups. Each site comes with a private grassy lawn, picnic table and fire ring. Other amenities include hot water showers and a camp store.

    Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area

    • Situated in the foothills of western San Joaquin County in southern Livermore, the Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area is a 1,500-acre wilderness area dedicated to off-road, motorcycle and ATV adventures. The park features terrain that includes rolling hills, steep canyons, rocky arroyos and dry washes. It also has a riding park with designated tracks for motocross, ATVs, beginners and children, as well as non-motorized trails for hiking and biking. The small campground has 23 primitive campsites. RVs are welcome, but the campground doesn't have water, electrical or sewage hookups or a waste-dump station. Campground amenities are limited to restrooms, coin-operated showers, picnic tables and fire rings.

    Morehead Park

    • Morehead Park is an RV park and mobile home community in Tracy, a town located 10 minutes west of Livermore. The RV park sits between interstates 5, 205 and 580, and is about an hour east of Oakland and the Bay Area. It is also within two hours of Napa Valley and Yosemite National Park. It features 109 sites with full hookups for short-term or extended stays. Each space includes shade trees, a picnic area and a barbecue grill. Morehead Park features several amenities, including boat storage, free Wi-Fi throughout the park, a book exchange and laundry facilities. The park also has professional landscaping and maintenance services and a 24-hour emergency line.
